Boston And Crawley Struggle On

The continued existence of both Boston United and Crawley Town is still in doubt.

Boston's players are disgruntled after being mailed a request to arrive for pre-season training in July, without any mention of the existing wage issues. Prospective owners Standing Alone are still yet to identify themselves, while existing owners Lavaflow have failed to answer several requests for information from players.

Chief Executive Barrie Pierpoint is due to meet with Standing Alone, who appointed him on a short term contract, today and will meet three of the senior players tomorrow to try and get answers for the current situation.

Manager Steve Evans, who is backing his players call for answers, didn't help his cause with the squad after arriving at the club in a brand new Land Rover Discovery, despite also not being paid for three months according to reports.

Crawley, in the meantime, are believed to have lodged only £100,000 of the £500,000 required under the terms of their CVA. Administrators Begbies Traynor wrote to creditors stating that they were considering seizing a £1.4million flat that was placed as security by owners the Majeed brothers. The move comes despite the fact that the Conference accepted Crawley's membership for next season at a meeting on May 11th - the deadline for the CVA payment to be made.
