News Round Up

Shrewsbury have announced a sponsorship deal for the naming rights to their stadium. They will now play at The Prostar Stadium after agreeing a four year deal with the kit manufacturer. Southend are giving a trial to released Leicester defender Jamie Clapham. The 32 year old has over 300 games to his name.

Lincoln boss Peter Jackson has revealed how Romanian striker Adrian Patulea got his trial at Sincil Bank: "He was spotted by the groundsman running around the training ground with his girlfriend on his back. The trouble is his girlfriend was naked, which got the attention of the players." Patulea scored a hat-trick on his debut but is contracted to a club in Romania.

MK Dons are chasing Hearts striker Calum Elliot. The 21 year old, who scored seven in 36 games last season, has a £600,000 price tag. Stockport have agreed a fee with Morecambe for midfielder Carl Baker. It is reported to be around the £175,000 mark with clauses for the former Southport man.

Peterboro will loan striker Rene Howe to Morecambe for the season. He scored nine goals in 23 games spending the second half of last season at Rochdale. Crewe have confirmed continuing interest in Anthony Elding. Barnet have had part of their fine for poor discipline waived after their much improved disciplinary record in the second half of last season.

Peterboro Chairman Darragh McAnthony has received an apology and damages from the News of the World over their claims that he would have to sell Aaron McLean on the cheap. McAnthony will donate the damages to a local hospice. Leeds have sold striker Tomi Ameobi to Doncaster for an appearance related fee. The 21 year old younger brother of Shola started only one game for Leeds after coming through the youth ranks.
