News Round-Up

Burton caretaker boss Gary Rowett said some of his players had 'given up the ghost' after their 4-0 loss to Wimbledon. He told the press the Brewers weren't fit enough and needed to up their workrate. Former Bulls loanee Paul Downing spent the night in hospital after being stretchered off with a neck injury during Barnet's draw at Macclesfield on Friday night. He is currently being assessed by medical staff at parent club West Brom ahead of any decision on whether he will resume training after tests showed no major damage.

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler says loan striker Rowan Vine is costing the club nothing, with the player even offering to cover his own expenses so he could start playing first team football again. Gills chairman Paul Scally has written to all 55 Medway area councillors pleading for them to oppose a planned £650million redevelopment in the area, saying the plans will leave the club unviable on their current site. The club had planned to move to the redevelopment area but are not included in the current planning application.

Macclesfield have confirmed that defender Mark Connolly has returned to parent club Bolton after his loan expired. It was reported last week that he had agreed an extension to the end of the season, but the player is reported to have changed his mind.
