13 In, 5 To Go?

With Martin Foyle telling fans at the Forum that he was aiming for a squad of 18, there are five spots remaining to be filled.

Sean Canham's agreement on a new deal, understood to be until the start of the January transfer window, means he is the thirteenth player to commit to the Bulls leaving five spots in the initial squad available.

Foyle has indicated that he is looking for a right back, right winger, and two further strikers, with the fifth position understood to be presently earmarked for a versatile player that seems increasingly unlikely to be Rob Purdie.

One possible signing for the right wing role is the recently departed Lincoln winger Simon Russell, who turned down a new deal at Sincil Bank just a day after Foyle was installed at Edgar Street. The 27 year old played for Foyle at York, including in their FA Trophy final in 2009, and has substantial Conference experience having racked up over 200 appearances for the likes of Kidderminster and Cambridge.

Up front, Foyle has already dismissed speculation that former Port Vale trainee Danny Glover is on his target list, while the Richard Brodie situation may not be decided until very late in pre-season once new Crawley boss Sean O'Driscoll has assessed his squad and decided on Brodie's future.
