Random Names In FGR Frame

The bookies have listed a string of names as favourite to be the next Forest Green boss in the last 24 hours.

With Bulls boss Martin Foyle cut from 25/1 to 6/1 in less than a day, John Coleman and Terry Brown were joint favourites throughout. But, in a hectic afternoon yesterday, first Robbie Fowler became the odds-on favourite - after being a 150/1 outsider - then Eastleigh boss Richard Hill before Kidderminster boss Steve Burr became Evens favourite in the evening after another leading light in the lists ruled himself out.

Former Fleetwood boss Mickey Mellon told the Lancashire press that current side Barnsley, where he is coach, had received two approaches from the Gumpers - but he was happy to stay with the Championship side.

Currently, Burr remains even money favourite with Robbie Fowler 7/2, Mickey Mellon 4/1 - his lowest odds despite rejecting the job, Terry Brown and John Coleman 7/1, Gary Brabin 8/1, and new name Paul Sturrock at 10/1 before Bulls boss Martin Foyle at 12/1.

Meanwhile, the Gumpers' New Lawn ground could hold Shortwood United's FA Cup game with Port Vale.

Their own ground, with a usual attendance of little more than 100, is being evaluated to hold it's reported 1,500 capacity with BT Sport holding off announcing it's final live game, after picking Wimbledon-Coventry as their first choice, until a decision is made on whether to switch to their near neighbours.
