£2,700 For Winners Of Trophy Tie

Hereford United 'owners' could have their biggest pay-day of the season so far if they defeat Totton tomorrow afternoon in the FA Trophy.

The prize money for a win is £2,700, almost certainly more than the net gate money taken at most home games recently.

And Totton manager Steve Riley realises that Hereford will provide stiff opposition.

“I’ve done a bit of homework on them, they’re full-time, they’re going to be quality and we’re expecting a tough match,” Riley told the Daily Echo.

“We will prepare to the best of our ability.

“Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Larkhall was hard work against a really strong, physical side. But our boys stood up to it and we didn’t have anyone hiding.

“For us to bounce back like that after the 4-0 defeat at Merthyr was pleasing and it’s given us confidence going into a massive game.
“Hopefully we’ll get a decent crowd in and it will be a fantastic day for the club financially.”

As regards Hereford, manager Jon Taylor will need to make a few changes.

Sam Akinde is suspended, Dan Sullivan is cup-ties, Obi Onyeike is currently in Holland and Gary O'Neill is to be 'rested'.
