A former Hereford United goalkeeper was last night 'inducted into the Scottish Football Hall Of Fame'.
Jock Wallace played for Hereford United from 1964 to 1966 and then moved to Berwick Rangers as player/manager. He died in 1996.
In his early career he was with Bedford when they defeated Newcastle United in the FA Cup in 1964.
Wallace holds a remarkable record as the only
player to have played in the FA Cup, Welsh Cup and Scottish Cup all in
the same season, 1966/67, with appearances for Hereford and Berwick Rangers
respectively.
However he was perhaps best known for his managerial career which included Berwick Rangers, Leicester City, Motherwell, Sevilla, Colchester United and two stints at Rangers.
Under his reign the Light Blues brought an end to Celtic’s nine-in-a-row run, with Wallace’s Rangers teams winning three league titles, three Scottish Cups and four League Cups during his tenure. This included two trebles in 1975-76 and 1977-78.
