Chris Barker, who spent some time as a player-coach at Edgar Street last season, has resigned as Weston-Super Mare's assistant manager.

Barker's exit comes ten days after manager Scott Bartlett left the club, with a new manager appointed earlier this week.

But Barker felt it was fair to let Marc McGregor bring his own team in.

The 37-year old told the Seagulls' official site: "After much deliberation after Scott’s resignation I have decided that it is in both mine and the clubs best interest for Marc McGregor to bring in his own coaching staff.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my year here, both as a player and as Assistant Manager.

"I believe we have made good progress throughout the season and I hope the Club continues to move forward."

Paul Bliss, chairman, also commented on the resignation, you can read his comments here (link).
