Hornchurch Made It Really Difficult Said Beadle

Hereford manager Peter Beadle spoke to the local media after this afternoon's 2-0 win over Hornchurch in the FA Cup.

"They made it really difficult," said Beadle.

"They came with a really good record, seven wins in the league and every FA cup game they've won.

"They've not conceeded many goals and could see today why. They were really well organised and obviously first half with the blocks and throwing themselves in the way of things you can see why they are doing so well in their league.

"I think they came to try and stifile us anyway, apart from a few set pieces they weren't a hugh threat from open play.

"I thought we controlled the game first half for long periods but without having that little of quality in the final third.

"We've had a couple flash across the goal-line, Lance has had across the goal, Keyon have had one across the goal but we didn't quite get the following finishing touches on it.

"So at half time we asked for them to have a little bit more poise, a little bit more quality in the final third, keep the ball moving and in the end we got what we deserved.
Peter Beadle Talking To His Squad After Today's Game
"Again we've had some more chances, we've hit the bar, Lance was unfortunate with his one which didn't quite travel quick enough for him to get his shot away.

"We're really pleased, it was a really good performance against a good side, they don't go seven games unbeaten in their league being a poor side. I'm sure they'll continue that and go into the league above next season.

"We set up to try and play, we want to play at a really good tempo because I think if we can play at that sort of tempo as we did last Saturday and again on Wednesday and as we did for long periods today teams will find it difficult against us.

"We need to have that energy and we need to be fit and ready for that and we've shown that over the past three or four weeks now when we're starting to get some momentum so we want to keep it going.

"It's nothing less than I thought we could achieve because that's why the players are here and we're reaping the benefits of it now, it's another clean sheet, that's three or four on the bounce now.

"So we're really pleased where we are at the minute, delighted to get through to the next round, it's as far as we've been in the competition after last year.

"We're breaking new bounderies and we hope we can get a nice draw at home in the next round."

Keyon Reffell and John Mills with a penalty scored for Hereford. What did Beadle make of the penalty?

"All I know is that Lance did absolutely fantastic to get it, he never gave up on anything in there, it looks like the chap slide and caught it with his hand maybe to stop it running through for a chance on goal.

"It was obviously pretty clear as the referee gave it straight away. But I can't see it from that far away.

"I like another home draw in the next round, sometimes a lower ranked team is worse than a higher ranked or even in the same league.

"We're playing extremely well at the moment home and away so ideally we would love to be at home but right now we would be ready to face anybody that comes along in the draw.

"We would like to have a little bit of luck and have a nice home draw against a team we would feel comfortable with but it's the FA Cup and that's what makes it so great.

"Whatever draw we get we'll take it and prepare for it but we've got a couple of league games in-between."

Beadle said that there were no significent injuries today.

"I think Keyon got a whack on his ankle as did Lance in the first half but they are just kicks opposed to anything too serious so hopefully everybody will be fit for Saturday."

After today's fixtures in the Southern Prem Hereford remain in fourth place.

"Ideally it's nice to keep up with the games, you don't want to have to chase too many games, but as we found in our first season that's the downfall of having good cup runs.

"We're going to be a couple of games behind now that through this round but as long as it stays only a couple of games and we don't lose too much distance. Obviously I'd rather have the points in the bag rather than the games to play but if that's the case and teams around us have dropped points today then that's good for us."
