Slight Groin Strain For Smith

After yesterday's game at Dunstable, Hereford striker Lance Smith spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester.

Smith scored Hereford's second goal in their 4-0 win which propelled them to top spot in the Southern Premier League but later was subbed after he felt his groin.

"They've just told us in the changing room that we're top of the table. Best position to be in with games in hand as well," said Smith.

"It's the first time we've been there and we want to stay there.

"Since the FA Cup run we've always had games in hand so we've always been playing catch-up but King's Lynn have dropped points today.

"We've come here, done our bit, top of the league so it feels good.

"You don't want games in hand when you are not top, you can make them count when you're top, you can stretch the gap further and further.

"We didn't think we were threatened much by Dunstable. We had a game plan. I think we enjoyed it out there."

Defender Ryan Green scored one of the goals and was involved in several goal-mouth scrambles

"It was good he got on the score sheet and Purdie as well. They've rolled back the years today. Purds was top today.

"Had the game gone on and we didn't score we would have probably been forcing it. His goal settled us."

Smith was subbed early in the second half.

"I just felt my groin go at the end of the first half. The squad is strong so if someone comes off another top player can go on.

"I'll just rest it now. If I had carried on it could have been worse.

"It was annoying as I was enjoying it out there."
